Business Development Initiative

The Business Development Initiative (BDI)

The BC oil and gas industry provides millions of dollars in revenue and creates thousands of jobs. However, some of these economic benefits are flowing out of BC through other suppliers of goods, services and employment. Economic development agencies, ESBC, oil and gas suppliers and BC residents, would like to increase these economic benefits for BC.

ESBC’s BDI project is a three-year initiative that will fuel the future of BC’s energy industry. The BDI will:

  • Implement a strategic plan to address the expectations of ESBC member companies, industry, community, government and Aboriginal groups;
  • Identify the BC service sector, the goods and services they provide and where the opportunities are;
  • Identify explorers and producers (E&Ps) who operate in BC, find out what their procurement processes are and build relationships with them;
  • Promote the BC service sector to E&Ps;
  • Develop the BC service sector through procurement and marketing tools;
